iPhoto is a handy app that was introduced by Apple back in 2002 as a part of the iLife suite of Mac apps. With iPhoto, users can simply manage, edit, and share their photo collections with simple-to-use non-destructive editing controls. The company has now decided to bring iPhoto to its iOS platform.
Seeing the growing trend of photography in the iOS ecosystem, the company has decided to offer a dedicated third-party photo editor for the iPad.
With iPhoto for iOS, Apple has brought some of the best features of iPhoto ’11 for Mac to the iPad. iPhoto for iOS is designed to let photographers of all strengths to quickly edit photos on the move.

The screenshots provided by Apple in the event suggest that the app is more of an Aperture Lite than just iPhoto. With this app, photographers can work with images up to 19MP. It is however unsure whether what type of RAW support the software would have.
Some of the popular iPhoto features including straighten and resize and red-eye removal are also included in the pack. Furthermore, a host of new brushes to repair, adjust contrast and saturation as well as sharpness, are also added.
Above all, it is non-destructive editing, meaning that you never have the risk of spoiling your original image. iPhoto for iOS offers a collection of pre-configured photo effects to Instagram users.
The users can make virtual photo albums with notes, text and more by utilizing new photo journals or photo books. The app also offers users to add maps and weather to events inside their journals. Moreover, users will be able to publish straight to iCloud or even send to iTunes.
